Resilience Empowered Villages in Virtual Environments

Project REVIVE is supported by the Betty Irene Moore Nurse Leaders and Innovators Fellowship.

The purpose of this project is to explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on youth adversity, risk, and resilience in order to better understand current strengths, needs, and protective and risk factors contributing to poor mental health outcomes. A mixed methods approach, using a sequential explanatory design (i.e., combining a quantitative secondary data analysis with a youth participatory action research that employs qualitative focus groups with youth advisory boards), will be used to complete the following specific aims:

  1. Characterize youth trajectories of adversity, risk behaviors (i.e., alcohol and substance misuse), and resilience (i.e., prosocial behaviors) before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
  2. Contextualize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and Internet use (e.g., social media) on youth adversity, risk, and resilience.
