Students who are Resilient, Empowered, self-Aware, & Moving
STREAM is supported by the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute.
This project will explore the use of Embodiology® to manage stress and flourish by increasing the self-regulation capacity, empowerment, and resilience of minoritized health sciences students at UCI. We hypothesize that offering Embodiology® as a stress management course to minoritized COHS students at UCI will be feasible, acceptable and culturally relevant; an effective way to decrease their perceived stress and improve their sense of well-being.
The specific aims for this project are to:
1. Build and implement a virtual stress management course (STREAM: Students who are Resilient, Empowered, self Aware, and Moving) for minoritized UCI COHS students that incorporates Embodiology® principles.
2. Assess the feasibility (enrollment, attendance, and retention rates), acceptability, and relevance of using Embodiology® to improve minoritized UCI COHS students’ well-being.
3. Assess the preliminary impact (i.e., added benefit) of offering STREAM to minoritized UCI COHS students.
