Each Gutenberg block has its own set of options that will appear on the right sidebar when making changes. For example, the Paragraph block now includes:

  • the ability to change the font size from several pre-selected sizes or a specific pixel size
  • the use of a drop cap with the simple selection of a toggle
  • color settings for both the text and the background

Advanced Block Settings

Each block also has an Advanced setting allowing you to add a CSS class. This will allow you to style that block by hooking to a specific class. To be able to edit CSS on your site, you will need the Custom CSS plugin activated.

Changing Block Types

You can also change the block type by using the Change Block type tool on the left of the formatting toolbar. You will be shown any available blocks that can be transformed.

Block Options

Each Gutenberg block contains options revealed by clicking on the three dots at the far right of the menu. These include:

  • Hide Block Settings
  • Duplicate
  • Insert Before
  • Insert After
  • Edit as HTML
  • Add to Reusable Block
  • Remove Block

These can be very useful. Including duplicating blocks or saving them as a Reusable block to be used on other pages or posts.
