Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federally funded program designed to elevate the academic achievement, college attendance, and graduation rates of first-generation, low-income, underrepresented, and underserved students.

NOW HIRING MENTORS
UCI GEAR UP is currently looking for highly motivated undergraduates to fill Student Tutor/Mentor positions. Student Tutors/Mentors work in partnership with Compton schools to provide academic support and intervention to students. The Student Tutor/Mentor position is a great opportunity to gain leadership and mentoring skills while giving back to the community!
- Academic year-long commitment
- Must be available to work weekdays
- Must be able to attend mandatory trainings
- Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must have reliable transportation, drivers license, and vehicle insurance
- Preferred experience in Math tutoring
Student Tutors/Mentors will commute and advise students at Compton Unified schools. Compensation begins at $18.00/hourly (mileage will also be compensated).
