In an Instagram post over the weekend, Jennifer Lopez shared a preview of a new documentary short film about her transgender nibling, Brendon Scholl. (“Nibling” is the gender-neutral term for a niece or a nephew.) Before sharing a five-minute clip of the film, entitled Draw With Me, she provided a brief introduction for the project.

Draw With Me is a short film about a transgender youth and their journey of coming out to their family and also engaging in their art to help them cope with the feelings they were having during this time,” Lopez said in the Instagram video.

The 51-year-old actress and singer then went on to explain why the film is so personal to her. “The film is important and timely in its story and message and can have a huge impact on those of us who watch and experience what Brendon and their family is going through in this time of acceptance and admission,” she continued. “It’s a story that’s very close to my heart because it was a family affair… Brendon is my nibling.”
