The fellowship, based in Callen-Lorde, a LGBTQ+ focused primary care center in New York City received a $2.5 Million from the Keith Haring foundation. This donation, in addition to funding the fellowship also contributed to the expansion of the Callen-Lorde facilities so that even more patients in need can be accommodated.
The goal of the fellowship is to provide specialty postdoctoral training for family and adult-gerontology nurse practitioners wanting to specialize in LGBTQ+ health. Fellows will be able to gain hands-on experience with members of the LGBTQ+ community in need of care. This fellowship is a fantastic opportunity to both increase the number of LGBTQ+ competent medical care providers as well as heighten the quality of training that providers are getting!
