Oral and poster sessions

The conference will be held at the University of California, Irvine, campus. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will follow a hybrid format, with sessions that will be delivered either in-person or remotely.

The conference program will include: 3 plenary sessions, a short course, and multiple invited and contributed sessions, featuring both oral and poster presentations.

Plenary sessions

The scientific committee is very pleased to announce the following 3 plenary speakers for GEOMED 2022:

Oral presentations

GEOMED 2022 attendees can contribute to the conference program through oral presentations that can be delivered either in person or remotely. Remote presenters will deliver their oral presentation live via Zoom.

Each oral presentation will be delivered as part of a session. There will be two types of sessions at GEOMED 2022: invited sessions and contributed sessions. Both types of sessions will feature 4 presentations, each 25 minutes long. Various formats for the sessions are possible, with the most common being: 4 speakers or 3 speakers and a discussant.

Current invited sessions cover the following topics:

  • Spatial and spatio-temporal modeling for global health
  • Vaccination and infectious disease transmission
  • Geospatial perspective in studies of environmental health
  • Geospatial perspectives on environmental influences on mental health
  • Advancing research on neighborhood effects using geospatial technologies and multilevel (hierarchical) models
  • Associations between urban built environment and public health

The program will also include 7 contributed sessions. A final full program with session titles, speakers list and presentation titles is available here.

Poster presentations

Another ways for GEOMED 2022 attendees to contribute to the program is through poster presentations. As for oral presentations, also poster presentations can be delivered in person or remotely.

The in-person poster session will take place on Wednesday October 12 from 6 to 9PM local time (e.g. US Pacific time). Poster presenters will display their poster during the reception. Posters can be printed on paper or fabric. Suggested dimensions for the posters: 48 by 60 inches. If they wish, in-person presenters can have their poster displayed on the conference website as well, in a password-protected page. In such a case, in-person poster presenters should contact Veronica Berrocal (vberroca AT uci DOT edu).

The remote poster session will take place on Thursday October 13 from 5 to 6PM local time. Posters for the remote poster session will be available for viewing on the website prior to the session. They will be posted either as PDF poster and/or as a 5 minutes pre-recorded presentation. During the virtual poster session, remote poster presenters will be available for an hour on Zoom, each in a different breakout room, to discuss and answer any question attendees might have.
