Wasserstrom, who is Chancellor’s Professor of History and Historical Writing Mentor of the Literary Journalism Program, is writing a book on the Chinese events of 1900. His talk, like the book he is writing, will deal not only with what happened but the varied ways the story of the Boxers has been recounted and dramatized over the decades, in media ranging from reenactments and films, to novels and plays, to at least one television show (an episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) and at least one computer game (Bioshock Infinite).
