Ways to Contribute

  • Personal Contributions
    • Personal contributions are OPEN.  There is no better or best way to record what is important to you.  The purpose is to say what you think is important.  The only instructions are that you mention anything you think would help others to understand your unique experience/event.  No specific formatting or style.  Just be yourself.
    • Just sign your contribution with your name. See the How to Post tab for details on how to send it to us.  Thanks.  We will let you know when it has been posted.
  • Contributions by Organizations
    • Contributions from UCI organizations that participate in life on Main Street UCI are OPEN.  They will add a lot to the record we leave.  There were 513 listed organizations at www.campusorgs.uci.edu in 2009-2010.  The form for organizations is open.  An account of the history, past and current activities and goals of your organization would be a valuable contribution.  Think about what you would like  people next year and fifty years from now to know about your organization.  Think about your grandchildren, other relatives, other people.
    • Contributions by organizations should be submitted by the current president/chief executive using her/his UCI email. (Names of others who worked on the contribution may be listed above the president’s signature.)  Please see the How to Post tab for details on how to send it to us.
  • Contributions By Researchers
    • Results of research on the Main Street area and related activities will be great contributions by themselves – valuable complements to the personal statements described above.  How for example, did the concentrated activity on the Main Street area of the Ring Mall develop from the planned concentric circles described in Professor Spencer Olin’s post?  When and how did that happen? . . . Term papers/theses,/dissertations . . .  all can be added to the pubic record through postings here.
    • Reminder:  if your contribution involves human subjects, your research will need review and approval by the Institutional Review Board (IRB)  www.research.uci.edu/ora/hrpp/ before it can be posted.
