Congratulations to Dr. Charles Dooley on the publication of his work on the total synthesis of (2R)-Hydroxynorneomajucin! His sequence is a great showcase for a number of classic named reactions, including the Tsuji–Trost allylation, Pauson–Khand reaction, Nagata hydrocyanation, Pummerer rearrangement, and Seyferth-Gilbert homologation. Congratulations to Sunshine on publishing his total synthesis of Illisimonin A in JACS!! The synthesis features a silacycle templated intramolecular Diels–Alder, a semi-pinacol shift to secure a trans-pentalene, and a late stage C-H oxidation. Excellent work.
