2023 Update

Happy 2023 everyone! While 2022 was a busy year for us, it looks like 2023 will be even more eventful. First off, we had two more students graduate from the lab. Hayley Glicker and Dianna Myers both successfully defended on June 13th. Hayley has gone on to teach at Chadwick High School in LA and Dianna has moved back to Oregon to a position at Clackamas Community College.  We wish them both the very best!

July and August, were spent on the TRACER (Tracking Aerosol Convection Interactions Experiment) field campaign.  The campaign took place in La Porte, which is a suburb of Houston. The weather was boiling hot and extremely rainy; however, the local food was delicious. We particularly liked a Vietnamese restaurant called Nobi’s. Also, our house was right on the water which provided us with some beautiful views.

We have two field campaigns coming up in 2023. Our first campaign is called Beyond the Tailpipe. It looks at the affects tire wear particles have on lower income communities in Santa Ana. The second is EPCAPE (Eastern Pacific Cloud Aerosol Precipitation Experiment), which will take place in San Diego and examine the interactions between aerosols and cloud formation. Everyone is excited to be back in the lab after winter break and we are all ready to do some more great science!
