CSULB’s Physical Therapy Multicultural Alliance (PTMA) is a group of physical therapy students dedicated to promoting diversity and cultural awareness within their profession, campus, and community. The mission of CSULB PTMA is to foster open dialogue regarding the healthcare disparities of all ethnic, gender, and class groups by incorporating mentoring programs, community service events, and educational panels, & workshops. Their inaugural event was a virtual panel of local LGBTQ affirming providers, and community leaders including Gender Diversity’s Program Coordinator and Community Education Specialist, Brit Cervantes. The Chapman Cross-Cultural Center has been seeking to foster an inclusive campus through identity, empathy, and community programming since 2017. In honor of LGBTQIA+ History month, Gender Diversity’s Program Coordinator and Community Education Specialist, Brit Cervantes, was invited to present on transgender affirming resources here in Orange County. Brit answered questions about navigating name and gender marker changes, hormone replacement therapy, and gender affirming surgeries.
