GWEP TAG TEAM: Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program, Technology Advanced Geriatrics: Together Educating, Advocating, & Mentoring
TAG TEAM’s goal is to educate, train, and expand our future geriatric workforce.
UCI GWEP TAG TEAM’s purpose is to educate, train and expand the future geriatric workforce. To achieve our goals, we have engaged three core groups: 1) Practicing healthcare providers, 2) interprofessional primary care residents and nursing students, and 3) underserved older adults and caregivers.
Our five main objectives are as follows:
- Develop partnerships among academic, primary care delivery systems, and Community Based Organizations to train our geriatric workforce.
- Train geriatrics specialists, primary care providers, and health professions trainees.
- Transform clinical training environments into integrated geriatrics and primary care systems to become age-friendly.
- Deliver community-based programs that provide patients, families, caregivers and direct care workers with the knowledge and skills to improve health outcomes for older adults.
- Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia education to teach how cognitive and behavioral impairments impact medical care, and to promote dementia-friendly communities.
