Technology Advanced Geriatrics: Educating, Advocating, & Mentoring

UCI GWEP is a grant funded by the Health Resources Services Administration and whose purpose it is to educate, train and expand the future geriatric workforce.

To achieve our goals, we have engaged three core groups: 1) Practicing healthcare providers, 2) interprofessional primary care residents and nursing students, and 3) underserved older adults and caregivers.

Partnerships

Developing partnerships across academia, primary care delivery systems, & community based organizations to train our geriatrics workforce

Training the Workforce

Train geriatrics specialists, primary care providers, and health professions trainees so that they are better equipped to provide specialized care to the growing population of older adults across the United States

Age-Friendly Health Systems

Transform clinical training environments into integrated geriatrics and primary care systems to become Age-Friendly

Community-Based Programs

Deliver community-based programs that provide patients, families, caregivers, and direct care works with the knowledge and skills to improve health outcomes for older adults

Alzheimer's Disease & Related Dementias

Alzheimer’s disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) education to teach how cognitive and behavioral impairments impact medical care, and to promote dementia –friendly communities
