Partnering with the IHSS Public Authority, Meals on Wheels California, Front Porch Assisted Living Communities, and Laguna Woods Village to provide patient and caregiver education to help improve health outcomes for older adults.
UCI GWEP and the UCI School of Nursing have partnered with the IHSS Public Authority for over 8 years to provide caregivers with hands-on training to better serve their older adult patients. With nursing faculty oversight, MEPN nursing students provide multilingual didactic and hands on training in-person and in virtually for IHSS caregivers. Partnering with Meals on Wheels CA, with over 50+ member agencies, we provide geriatrics training for their direct care workforce, volunteers, and drivers. Our goal is to help this front line workforce to be able to understand and identify changes in condition for the older adult population in which they serve so they may better meet their immediate needs.
Our GWEP team provides geriatrics 4Ms education to Front Porch and their CNAs and direct care staff.
Partnering with Laguna Woods Village, our GWEP team hosts a monthly Optimal Aging lecture series for Laguna Woods residents.
