An ion mill problem was reported yesterday. This problem was found to be associated with the low gun which was used heavily recently. I have contacted the vendor and received a quote today. A service request has been submitted today. Waiting for approval now. The instument could be down for two weeks or longer because of PO and gun service.

The system is finally fixed. It is OK to use now.
The gun was installed on Monday and the vacuum was recovered on Tuesday. First test was carried out and irregular current from the gun was observed. Waiting for advices from Fischione engineer.
The gun was received on June 8. Because of 3 day FEI application training, I will replace the damaged gun with the good one on Monday.
The PO was issued on May 31. The gun will be shipped out from the vendor to us today and may arrive on June 7.
A service request was approved on last Friday (May 27) afternoon by the head of CHEMS department. A PO request was just submitted today. Will disconnect the low gun from ion mill and ship it to the vendor soon.
