Accelerating Innovation is an incentive program for OIT staff to encourage the creation and sharing of innovative ideas – where new and useful ideas will be evaluated, harvested, and advanced for further implementation – using online tools where you can propose/share/refine innovative ideas and expand your knowledge about principles of innovation.
Unlike the traditional OIT project submission process, Accelerating Innovation seeks to help incentivize, generate, and surface innovative ideas that are important, but may be outside the scope of OIT’s existing systems/initiatives. It includes some educational information to help clarify different types of innovations (the innovation framework can be found in the Learn section of this site) and the scope for innovations being sought within OIT. It provides suggestions for how individuals can better define and refine their innovative ideas to be more impactful and it provides an easy-to-use submission form for people to share/propose their ideas. Shared ideas can be reviewed/discussed/clarified/expanded by others and ideas will be curated by a group of individuals who are seeking to help foster and promote innovative ideas. Strong ideas from the curation process will be forwarded for action to further develop/implement the idea.
With the consent/permission of your upstream management, you can immediately start work within your current area to move locally-feasible ideas forward through refinement and development to implementation. Bigger ideas that may require more people may need further vetting/approval before work can begin.
