  • Why is OIT doing this?
    • To support experimentation with new ideas, capture lessons learned from low-risk failures, and elevate OIT to more nimbly respond to evolving customer needs and technology changes. Innovation is also a key component of UCI’s strategic plan and referenced in our campus talent management via Achieve. Innovation is also an OIT cascading goal (#5: Foster technology innovation and collaboration with campus and the industry).
  • Who does this benefit?
    • Everyone. It allows OIT to remain relevance to the mission of the university. It also enables us to benefit our users by introducing new services, systems or products that would add value and improve their experience or the quality of their work.

  • How do ideas get approved to start work?
    • Through a coordination team whose decisions are based on a rubric to be published on this site in the coming months.
  • How is this program run?
    • We will intentionally have a light process during our one year pilot. For more information, you may visit the “Process” tab from the main page.
  • How do ideas get evaluated for incentives or resources?
    • The Coordination Team will review ideas for requested resources and include them in their recommendations.  They’ll also review and recommend completed concepts for incentive awards based on a rubric to be published on this site in the coming months.
  • How is this program evaluated?
    • We are developing various KPIs and intend to publish an annual report on how the objectives of the programs were met.
