Testimonials

Compton Unified

The students in Compton Unified have been greatly impacted by the professional development provided by Irvine Math Project to our high school and middle school math teachers. Through their coaching, curriculum, and collaboration, our teachers have made a successful transition to the Integrated Math model in high school with hands-on, student-centered learning! We have also seen gains in our middle school and 11th grade math scores as a result of the work of Irvine Math Project. – Michael Kurinsky (Career Technical Education, Interim Director Compton USD)

Fountain Valley School District

I have had the fortunate opportunity to work with IMP in two different districts.  Each time the IMP team has come in as a partner in order to develop customized professional development for secondary teacher teams.  The IMP staff brings with them a deep knowledge of research based instructional strategies, interactive training opportunities, and a broad array experiences in supporting district-wide curriculum implementation efforts.  It has been a pleasure working with their personable staff while watching teachers learn, grow, and implement interactive math lessons as a direct result of our work together. – Steve McLaughlin (Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services, Fountain Valley School District)

Santa Ana Unified

I have had the pleasure of working with the Irvine Math Project staff over the past few years. Their expertise with the California Math Standards and Framework are exceptional, and their ability to transfer their knowledge in digestible ways during our grade level professional learning offerings for our teachers in SAUSD has been a priceless gift.  The instructional and assessment tools provided by IMP are explicitly aligned with the California math standards and the activities therein allow students to build mathematical rigor.  – MaryEllen Nicholson (Elementary Math Curriculum Specialist, Santa Ana USD)

Garden Grove Unified

For the past few years, GGUSD has worked with Irvine Math Project as we transitioned to the California Common Core standards and new assessment system. This partnership has enabled us to remain focused on providing our teachers with the support and tools they need to help every child improve as mathematicians. IMP has been there when we needed them, offering suggestions, professional development, resources, and serving as a collaborator on our path of continual improvement. – Monica Ibarra-Acosta (Director, K-6 Instruction, Garden Grove USD)

Capistrano Unified

I have been teaching third and fourth grade for over twenty years. One thing I constantly struggle with is finding a way to motivate students who struggle with math concepts and have a hard time sitting still during lessons.  The demonstration lessons and coaching from IMP coach opened my eyes to new ideas and motivated me to make some changes in my instruction which have been very beneficial to my students.  I had never gone outside for a math lesson before and I quickly learned how powerful it can be!  The coach modeled a lesson on fractions with number lines on the blacktop and students jumped to different spots to show their understanding of the concepts taught.  The entire class enjoyed and benefited from the lesson, but I was especially impressed with how excited, motivated, and engaged some of my students who do not usually participate were.  They were working with challenging math concepts and actually enjoying it! – Sarah Rizkallah (4th Grade Teacher, Capistrano USD)

Laguna Beach Unified

We’ve enjoyed our partnership with IMP. The professional development is personalized and responsive to the needs of our teachers and grounded in research and best practices. Classroom modeling and supportive coaching help us implement the units of study with fidelity. – Alysia Odipo (Assistant Superintendent, Instructional Services, Laguna Beach USD)
