With final exams quickly approaching, instructors may need to be creative in how they administer their final exam. This may mean that instead of a traditional exam, alternative methods may be utilized including Canvas quizzes, video presentations, or take-home exams. 

Below are student instructions for exams that are to be  administered using Respondus and Examity. We also want to make you aware that while Respondus and Examity are typically paid services, students will not be charged for using these services.

Respondus

Taking a Respondus LockDown Browser exam at a UCI Computer Lab

  • Please start your exam by first launching Respondus LockDown Browser (not a regular web browser).
  • If the lab machine does not have Respondus installed, please find a different lab machine that does.
  • Please Note: You cannot download and install Respondus LockDown Browser to UCI lab machines.

System Requirements for LockDown Browser

  • Windows: 10, 8, 7
  • Mac: OS X 10.10 or higher
  • Note: LockDown Browser is not compatible with Chromebooks or ChromeOS
  • Web camera (internal or external) & microphone
  • A broadband internet connection

Examity

Note: As of 3/24, Examity is not available as an option to your instructors as their remote monitoring offices have been temporarily closed.

Things to consider when scheduling an Examity exam

  1. Double-check the TIME ZONE
  2. Double-check the time of day for scheduling- AM or PM
  3. Run the computer requirements check at least twice, including once a bit before testing
  4. Use Examity student support functions if you have any issues
