MC2 TEM chiller was down on 27. Parts were ordered on the same day and will arrive on 2/29.
Month: February 2012
MC2 D-5000 XRD down on 2/27/2012 and up on 3/14/2012
It was reported on 2/27/2012 that the XRD had a very high noise/background. For several tests, the results remain the same. The results were sent to Bruker engineer. Waiting for response.
2012 SCSMM Symposium on March 3 (one full day) at Caltech
Here is the Message from Dr. John Port together with the SCSMM Symposium schedule
Just a reminder – the SCSMM Meeting is coming up on March 3 at CalTech. Full details are available at: www.scsmm.org
We have a full day of talks and 16 posters this year for what will be an excellent meeting. The final platform program and poster program are attached. Our National Tour Speaker this year is David Williams, co-author of the text book Transmission Electron Microscopy.
One of our student presenters has created a Facebook link. You can use it to notify all your friends! https://www.facebook.com/events/284962681560521/
If you do intend to come, please don’t forget to register. Details on our web site!
On behalf of our board, we hope to see you all at the meeting.

Quanta3D EDS and EBSD Back Up
The image acquisition problem has been fixed as of Mon, 2/20, and all EDS and EBSD capabilities have been restored to their usual status.
Quanta3D EDS and EBSD down
The EDS and EBSD software cannot acquire an image so any functionality relying on image acquisition (e.g. point & ID and mapping modes in EDS, mapping in EBSD) has been lost (2/17/12). Spectra can still be acquired in EDS without image acquisition. Oxford will be contacted and the problem addressed following the Presidents Day Weekend
TEM camera is down at 5pm on Feb 16 and up on March 2
The TEM camera suddenly stopped working this afternoon. Just emailed Gatan engineer. Waiting for his response
MC2 XL-30 SEM down- Jan 30-Feb1 (power board) and Feb 3-8 (changing FEG emitter)
A power board was bad and replaced.
