//TEM is still working, but a TEM camera problem occurred from yesterday night. It looks like a communication problem, but after changing a cable, the problem remains. I have informed Gatan engineer and will continue trouble shooting tomorrow. Please check LEXI blog for more updates.. Please note that I have lubricated the TEM holders. You need to control the holder better when loading it into TEM.

//AFM is down today. A user reported that she could not align the laser on to AFM probe. I checked it and found that the laser vertical was moved too much in one direction. The optical microscope objective lens was adjusted to one limit as well. I am going to contact AFM engineer to check it with him later.
//FEG was reported to shut down itself today. I tried to restart the emitter, but failed. I just sent an email to FEI engineer and will report to FEI service after the labor day.
//A software issue showed up this morning. After working FEI engineer on the phone, the problem could not be solved. The engineer thought that there could be a hardware problem. A service call was placed. Waiting for a service from FEI.
//The UltimaIII diffractometer is down due to the overcooling issue with the chiller. Mostly likely we need to replace the thermostat.
//Chamber camera in Quanta 3D SEM lost contract yesterday evening. The problem was not solved by following FEI engineer’s advice. I have placed a service call to FEI. Waiting for an on-site visit.
//Yesterday, FIB was reported to have a problem. I believe that LMIS run out. I ordered the parts last week, waiting for the parts. A service call was placed. FEI engineer will be on site tomorrow to check the system. Meanwhile, we are working on getting the parts there quickly. Please check the comments for following up
//EDS on quanta 3D SEM was down yesterday. A brief check indicated that detector cooling has a problem. Am email has been sent to an Oxford engineer. Waiting for response…..
//Engineer will be inspecting the instrument tomorrow at 11 am.
