April 10. Coronavirus Worldwide Deaths Pass 100,000, US Cases Pass 1/2 Million

Worldwide Coronavirus deaths passed one hundred thousand, at 102,763, near midnight, PST.  World cases are at 1.7 million.

US cases passed a half-million, at 501,560, with 18,777 deaths.  That is a 3.7% fatality rate of positive tested cases, which of course are below the number of infections.  US deaths are led by New York at 7,887, containing 5,820 in New York City.  Next are: New Jersey, 1,932; Michigan, 1,276; Louisiana, 755; California, 599; Massachusetts, 599; and Illinois, 597.

In biophysical properties, a UC Davis study found that virus particles are ejected in normal speech, but some people are superspreaders, injecting many more than others.  Speaking loudly also generates more particles.  So being crowded in a noisy bar with music where everybody yells, or in a typical restaurant which insists on signature background music, or a poorly sound absorbing restaurant, or a noisy factory floor, or even a quiet meeting room where people are well separated and have to raise their voices, are all verboten in the future Coronavirus world.  I doubt if any changes will be made in this regard.  Quiet, Quiet, Quiet.  Rock concerts, sports with loud cheering, etc.  Choirs.  Singing the National Anthem over the Stadium singer.  Nothing will be done about this.  Remember the old phrase “say your words, don’t spray them”?  This is one of the best reasons for people to wear masks in confined public spaces.

Neurological manifestations of COVID-19 are dizziness, headache, impaired consciousness, seizure, loss of taste, loss of smell, vision impairment, and nerve pain.
