Total and Reported Covid Deaths and Infected Per Population for American States in the IHME model run for April 7, 2022.

The Total Covid Deaths per 100,000 population are shown in Figure 5.2 of the USA report of the IHME, below.

Southern States and some Northern states have greater than 400 deaths per 100,000.  California has 300 to 349 per 100,000.  At the low end is Hawaii with 50-99 per 100,000, and Utah with 150-199 per 100,000.  As reported in the previous article, the projected total US Covid deaths as of August 1 would be 385 per 100,000.

The Reported Deaths per 100,000 by state are shown below in Fig. 5.1 from the IHME USA report.

 

While many Southern states have Total cumulative Covid deaths above 400 per 100,000, only Arizona and Mississippi have Reported deaths in that range.  As reported in the previous article, on April 18, the percent of total covid deaths reported was 79% nationwide.

76% of the US population are estimated by the IHME to have been infected at least once as of April 4.  The distribution by state is below in Fig. 6.1.

Kansas is estimated to have greater than 95% infected.  Wisconsin, Texas, and Florida have between 90-95%.  California has between 80-85% infected at least once.  On the low end, Vermont and Hawaii have only 30-40% infected.
