Chinese Nuclear Plans

According to articles in the China Daily, the Chinese have 13 operating nuclear reactors now, which is 7% of their electrical power.  There are 28 nuclear reactors under construction, and they plan to generate 11% of their power by nuclear by the end of 2015.  They plan to have a total of 70 gigawatts of nuclear power by 2020.  They also plan to have 25% of their electricity generated by nuclear power by 2050.

The World Nuclear Association at http://www.world-nuclear.org/info/inf63.html has a very complete report on Chinese nuclear plants with location maps, building schedules, and types of reactors.  They state a nuclear power schedule of 80 GWe (gigawatt electrical) by 2020, 200 GWe by 2030, and 400 GWe by 2050.

The above website also gives the sources of Chinese electricity as 80% coal with 707 GWe capacity, 15% hydro with 213 GWe capacity (including 18 GWe from the Three Gorges dam, and 16 GWe from the Yellow River), and 31 GWe capacity from wind power.
