I haven’t found a source that lists the murders for major US cities, so I have started collecting some for the most problematic cities. http://www.city-data.com/ was helpful for city by city data for 2010 and 2011. Doing this for each year, leaves some gaps in the table for now. Whereas other data stresses the murder rate per 100,000, that really dilutes the inner city problem by the size of the outer city areas. I consider each murder as well as each non-lethal assault a tragedy, and therefore list the actual number as the most important data.
