The SEM has a problem now. We are contacting Tescan engineer for a service.
JEOL 2800 was down on 11/15 and up on 11/16
JEOL will reinstall a in-gap objective aperture drive to 2800 on Thursday afternoon. The scope will be unavailable for Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon. The scope has some leak in the sample chamber. Users should keep either a holder or a dummy holder in the microscope to minimize the leak. This has to be addressed sometime after Thanksgiving.

2100F will be baked till Thursday
Dear 2100F users
Because of the poorer vacuum, we decided to back the microscope till Thursday afternoon.
It is anticipated that 2100F will be operational by 6pm on the Thursday the 11th.

2800 SOP major update underway
Dear 2800 users
2800 SOP’s STEM alignment procedure is being updated. If you are going to download a copy, please wait till this major update completes. When it’s done, we posted it in the blog.
2100’s OneView Camera is down
2100F’s OneView Camera stopped functioning.
If you are going to use the scope, please speak with Dr. Xing to see if you can use K2 camera instead.
The OneView camera went down and got quickly fixed by Gatan and now it is operational.
IMRI CTEM’s Water shutdown on 4/25/18
Dear users
The process cooling water for our all 4 S/TEMs will be interrupted starting at 6am tomorrow morning. The facilities management is installing a bypass valve in the central plant for our waterline. The interruption may last till the end of the day.
Please be aware that TEMs will be down tomorrow.
We will post the progress of the work in this blog. Stay tuned.
Water shutdown was done around 3pm. Grand ARM and 2100F were conditioned and brought up.
Grand ARM is down
Dear Grand ARM users
A sample holder hit the objective lens and the holder was damaged and some parts got dropped inside. JEOL engineers are opening up the microscope to check it out. The scope will be baked over the weekend and then conditioned on Monday. The scope will be unavailable till then.
Grand ARM is operational as of 6pm on 4/16/18. The special EDS double-tilt holder was shipped to JEOL for repair. Please use a back up double tilt holder till the holder is returned.
