Urban Studies Major/
Working towards a double minor in Global Sustainability and Education,
from Southern CA

Hola amigos! I’ve lived in sunny southern California my entire life, but have been lucky enough to travel abroad. My travels have been a source of great inspiration, especially in the realm of environmentalism, sustainability, and celebrating cultural differences. All these factors, as well as TED talks, and classes, among other things, have successfully fueled my passion—environmentalism.

I love being involved in organizations both on and off campus. I am currently a part of the Urban Studies Student Association, Liwanag, Habitat for Humanity, and I volunteer back home at a local church ministry. With regard to sustainability, I was a proud member of EarthReps, and I try to immerse myself in all the opportunities that the Global Sustainability Resource Center on campus offers. Last year, I even helped plant some California native plants outside Middle Earth to reduce water usage and help with the drought. So far, my educational career has allowed me to immerse myself in what I love, and this year is no exception. I could not be any more excited to be a part of the Costa Rica Program this year, especially with the great team that we have! I hope to offer CRP intriguing questions, an adventure-seeking spirit, and an open book for learning and growing. I can’t wait to experience the Pura Vida lifestyle and to do research that will target Costa Rica’s environmental problems so that we can catalyze solutions. After all, as Albert Einstein once said, “those who have the privilege to know, have the duty to act.”
