Currently, I am a Resident Advisor in Mesa Court and a Peer Academic Advisor for the Undecided/Undeclared Advising Office. I became interested in sustainability when I participated in Alternative Spring Break last year, through the Cross Cultural Center, and had the opportunity to spend a week with the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians. On the reservation I learned a great deal about sustainability practices, which led me to want to learn more about the subject by participating in the Costa Rica: Global Sustainability and Cultural Immersion Program. I hope to gain a better appreciation of what I have, but more importantly, I want to create awareness. Of the three pillars of sustainability I would certainly like to focus on the social aspect that influences Costa Rican sustainability policies. Lastly, I am looking forward to meeting the locals, practicing my Spanish, and eating Costa Rican food for the first time… definitely looking forward to the food!
