Earth System Science Major/
Biological Sciences Minor
Throughout my years at UCI, I have developed a deep interest in sustainability as well as the preservation and restoration of Earth.
Last spring I participated in UCI’s Spring Break in the Desert program, where we presented an environmental education program about the ecology of Salton Sea to students of Borrego Springs School District. It was interesting learning about the problems occurring in the basin, but being able to see and observe the impacts humans have caused to it tremendously motivated me to spread the word about what we can do to start making a positive impact on our environment.
Costa Rica has one of the greatest biodiversities in the world, and is the first country to meet its global conservation goals. It is also a land filled with beauty and people who embody Pura Vida, which are reasons that interested me in applying to CRP. In this trip, I hope to immerse myself in a different culture and to learn about how Costa Ricans have been able to integrate sustainability into their lifestyles. In addition, I am excited to meet the people, taste their food, and see the wildlife!
